DC Design Avanti photographed on the assembly line

India’s ace designer Dilip Chabria (DC) introduced the Avanti super car concept in the 2012 Auto Expo. The Avanti is the India’s first super car and at the 2014 Auto Expo the production version of the Avanti was revealed. Since then the Avanti was spotted in public road couple of times. Now a batch of DC Avanti was spied as these are test mules used by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) for fuel efficiency tests.

We can see five test mules camouflaged and the other two test mules look production models. The production model of the DC Avanti has some changes to the exterior, interior and chassis to make it road ready, but still the interesting bit like the aggressive design is carried over to the production models. The DC Avanti was expected to make its public soon after the Auto Expo, but the plans put on hold by some unknown reasons.

These spy shots prove that the DC Avanti is not far from the launch. DC is expecting good response for the Avanti from the Indian people as it is cheap compared to other sports cars. DC Avanti is powered by 2.0 L four cylinder turbo charged engine sourced from Ford produces 248 BHP of power and 340 NM of torque. The power is transmitted to the rear wheel via 6 speed gearbox. Performance is excellent as the 0-100 kmph in 6 seconds and top speed is limited to 180 kmph. The DC Avanti is expected to be priced at Rs 25 Lakhs.
