Mahindra Two Wheelers Limited (MTWL) is in the works of establishing strong base in Indian commuter bike / scooter segment. Other than successful Centuro, current models are not selling well. Mahindra will launch a 110cc scooter codenamed G101 soon, spy shots of which have come up again!
Mahindra’s new scooter in question was spotted earlier with silver body paint and camouflage cloak. Now, disguise decals on body panels are seen underneath similar cape. G101 commuter scooter looks plain and simple, suggesting it will feature only fundamental features to keep costs in check.
Handlebar mounted headlamp, apron mounted clear lens turn indicators, substantial side mirrors, sizeable floorboard and handy pillion grab rail would describe most scooters enough, this one too. Disc brakes are not expected in Mahindra 110cc scooter G101. Engine could be shared with Centuro, retuned to sync with scooter’s gearbox and behaviour. Kick and electric button start may be offered in different variants.
Upcoming scooter codenamed G101 should complete Mahindra’s scooter portfolio, but to take down segment leaders, the Indian manufacturer should work some magic. Price of new Mahindra 110cc scooter should be about Rs. 3,000 to 5,000 less expensive than the ever popular Honda Activa.
