Tata Motors plans meaner, greener Nanos

Tata motors is all set to take the Nano to greater levels. From the first Nano to the current one, the company has made significant improvements to the small car. The first major mechanical change happened earlier this year as the Nano gets power steering variant as the twist which helps the maneuverability in the city driving and also in the parking. The Nano is a perfect car for a small family, but we have already seen some tuned Nano in our roads. So the enthusiasts are looking for a Nano with a punchy engine and the company has heard their wish as the Nano will get a super charged variant.
The current Nano is powered by the small twin cylinder 624 cc engine. Tata will add turbochargers to engine which will increase the power and torque out to improve the driving of the Nano. The new variant will certainly improve the image of the Nano. Along with the supercharged engine, some changes will be made to the suspension and the chassis to make it handle well. The Nano super charged variant is expected to make its debut by the end of the October this year.

Tata motors are also developing lots of new variants for the Nano. One of them is part electric variant called the Nano e-rev. The electric engine works with the petrol engine which will result in increasing the range of Nano. It will be really helpful for the Nano customers as they are spending most of their time in the city. Currently the Nano e-rev is an R&D project. The company is yet to take a final decision on the Nano e-rev and it will depend on the government take on the electric vehicles. If the government provides subsidiary, it will be a huge boost for the electric car market.
Apart from Nano super charged and the Nano e-rev variant, the company is also working on the Nano diesel which is expected to make its debut before the end of this year. Tata is developing the automatic variant of Nano called the F-tronic, which comes with a 5 speed AMT gearbox and the concept was shown at the 2014 Auto Expo. Then the Nano facelift which comes with exterior and interior changes along with openable boot. The Nano has lots of potential to be a very popular product and we expect the new developments will help the Nano to perform well in the sales chart
