Fresh and updated Tata Bolt and Zest

The two most awaited launch Tata Bolt  and Zest in their respective segments this year were unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo and the test mules of both products were spied “n” number of times across the different parts of the country. Tata motors is testing the Bolt and Zest extensively to make it better than the competition. The company doesn’t want the best as they are looking for the new products as the benchmark in the segment.
Finally the details of the launch of Bolt and Zest have come out. Tata motors are targeting the festival season to bring in volumes and maximum attention from the customers. The Zest which is the replacement model for the Manza sedan will be launched in August this year, while the Bolt which is the replacement for the Indica Vista will be launched in September. Tata will discontinue the Indica Vista and the Manza to completely focus on the new products.
The Bolt and the Zest are based on the same X1 platform, which also underpin the current models. Tata motors choose the existing platform as the development of new platform will increase the cost. The company has made vast improvements over the models which they are replacing. The styling, suspension, interior quality and features.
The Bolt and Zest both get a brand new turbo charged petrol engine the 1.2 L Revotron producing 85 PS of power and 140 NM of torque. The diesel engine is the same 1.3 L Multijet engine unit with 90 PS of power. But the diesel engine gets the option of 5 speed AMT along with 5 speed manual gearbox. The petrol models comes with the 5 speed manual option. We can expect the prices to be aggressive for both the Zest and Bolt. The Bolt competes with the Swift, i20, Polo and Brio, while the Zest with the Swift Dzire, Xcent and the Amaze.
